Erasing tool and photo guide

I've tried to figure this out but it just ain't working...
The erasing tool; when I erase, I get a a bunch of boxes showing up in the spot were I erased. Can I get rid of that feature anyhow? It's hard to draw with a bunch of black and white boxes everwhere. And do those boxes show up when I publish the work?
Photo guide; Anyhow to get a photo reference, without having the photo stick to the layer? Wait, how do you even get the photo guide?
Tehheheh, sorry this is alot of questions. Im still trying to get used to queeky! How's everyone holding up?

Erasing ...

... the first bit I can answer - what you are seeing is the transparent layer - the boxes won't show up when you publish the work but I am fairly sure you cannot publish transparent backgrounds on Queeky so I think the background layer will default to white in any case if you haven't painted it or if you erase the colour. You cannot lose the wee boxes they are there to let you know it is transparent

To get the photo guide now you open a layer and import the photo from your computer into that layer. I think you can choose to leave the photo layer in or remove it but I am not sure whether in both cases it gets published in the collage tab rather than the gallery - if you leave the photo layer in it definitely gets published in the collage section but can be published in a group.

Hope that is all complete - anyone else got anything I missed?
