Hi admin. Interesting dialogue. I can only guess at the difficulties and logistics of keeping this new , fun,and interesting, let alone the complexities involved that we as users don't see or probably even consider as we use this product. A product that I happen to think is great by the way. Your subscriber and user numbers may actually be UP for all I know. I see a lot of activity when it comes to new drawings being posted, most of it being posted by younger people, doing quick, social, independent work. Some of it is very good and creative, and in my opinion, whether the work is good or miserable doesn't matter at all. If this can be an introduction to someones creative outlet, someone that may never have attempted it by traditional means (paper, pencils or paint ) I say Great. Who knows how many have discovered their hidden talents due to this site that you have created here. I applaud you! I suppose when I said QUIET, I was mostly referring to people that used to be here more frequently that I personally look for because I enjoy their particular style of work. Not to sound like an Art snob, forgive me if I do, but those individuals that have for lack of a better way to put it ,show greater maturity in the quality of their images. I won't mention names of course but there seems to be quite a few that I don't see here often enough. Obviously people get busy, life happens, and folks can't sit around all day doing this...I know, I'm no different. This last drawing I did was probably my first in some months. I'm a working artist as my profession, doing rather traditional style work, landscapes, portraits and animals in oil. So for me this was / is a great diversion from that kind of work. A few years back, I discovered by shear accident the digital art of Craig Mullins. When I read that this had been done on a computer using photoshop...I'm like Whaaat?, this can't possibly be. A computer? So I immediately had to try it. So here I can without supplies or messy cleanup, create any concept I can come up with, no worries about whether or not it is going to sell, and the added bonus of people on here letting me know if I'm getting anywhere. Mostly however I've enjoyed the cyber friends from all over the world that would have never been met. My only let down was the changing of the original format homepage that existed when I came on board. Artists are great folks, but most of us suffer from some form of Egomaniacal syndrome. From the time we're kids we ran to our parents to share what drawing we had produced hoping for the sure to come approval and encouragement. As we got older, nothing changed. We as artists always want to share our work for others to view it, and hopefully approve of that language we use through our art. We also like a little competition. It just makes us better. So when you had to get 5 votes to get on the upcoming row, and 20 to get on the main window, that was incentive to do a good piece. Now whether or not that was a logistic nightmare or not for the site to handle..I don't know. For me however, and I think there are some like me, That format was somewhat inspiration to produce. Call me shallow. As of now I think the New pics on the right are a wee bit small and don't tell who made them. Thats my critic. Overall I think you are doing a great thing here and I hope for your greatest successes to come.
"Inspiration is highly overated, if you sit around and wait for the clouds to part, it's not liable to ever happen. More often than not, work is salvation" Chuck Close
I am doing a competition for a portrait, using an old-fashioned chiaroscuro technique, because that's what these judges like. It is in acrylic but I thin the medium down and use glazes so it will look like an oil. I used to work exclusively in oil but it takes so long to dry - sometimes up to a week, eh?
of course premium will remain somehow, premium brushes will then be available for free
EDIT: and, of course, Queeky will remain it's just about the PA.
What an amazingly beautiful rose. Excellent, and the colors are super beautiful as well.

David, as always your artwork is astounding! This my friend is one of my all time favorites of yours. Do you mind me asking how long this took to complete here on Queeky? I do agree about it being "quiet" here. I think maybe it seems that way for us older artists because there are so many newer and younger artists posting different works here. I for one need to make more use of my Queeky account and be more interactive, I vow to do that to help keep queeky alive. It would be my worst fear if Queeky were no more. I wish there were more of us Older Artists that had premium accounts if nothing more just to support what we love here so it will stay. Just my opinion, but keep up your awesome artwork here. I love it!
First: Great work again Viridian, and it's a nice hook to talk about "Quietness"
Do you really think it seems quiet? User statistics do slowly raise. But maybe for resident Queeky users the page is getting boring or something? I don't know why, I do my best to keep Queeky evolving, but I am just a single person and limited to a certain time that I can spend on this project. And I can tell you, things getting harder from day to day for a small company. For example there are some tax changes for sites which sell Premim content inside of Europe from beginning next year, and Queeky has only a hand full of Premium members. The new tax laws make things very complicated (you have to calculate the tax based on the country where the customer comes from, and must know about the tax law in each european country). To accomplish this, I would have to reprogramm all of our shop software, which is a ridiculous task for round about 50 Euros Premium income per YEAR. So I will probably have to cancel the Premium account from beginning next year, and all of the work we put in it is for the trash :/
The most important thing that supports me to develop Queeky further is you, the users. So if you like to support this project, do not be quiet and draw! Post your work, write comments, keep connected with your Queeky friends through words or art and feel free to make suggestions what new Features you would like to have. Say what you like, and even more important say what you don't like. Queeky has no product-managers, capital-investors, marketing- or usability-department. It's just me, the developer, and you, the users. The distance from developer to user is still pretty short in this project, so please make use of it and tell me about your thoughts and ideas.
So, what do you think why it might be "quiet these days" on Queeky?
Greetings from Hamburg
THIS IS SO SOFT AND LOVELY!
Very pretty. I saw your comment at my site--are you having trouble at queeky too?
Thank you--I do not think I understand what you said??? Ever since Queeky made changes I have had trouble posting my work.
